Elizabethan Demi Lancer

Here's a couple of pictures of my first demi lancer  for use with Donnybrook rules. The figure is a simple conversion of the excellent Elizabethan general figure from Crann Tara miniatures; to have a look how simple here's the link to prove it http://www.cranntaraminiatures.co.uk/
 cheers Pete

Something a little different

Here's a pic of my representation of the flags for the 1st Jyske and the Schleswig Cavalry regiments from the Scanian War. This completes the first Scanian War flag sheet  however there will be more to come but first I've some Burgundians to finish and some Yorkists to get started. cheers Pete

2nd game of Donnybrook

Here's some pic from our second game of Donnybrook which was touch and go for most of but resulted in an English victory despite the English commander being killed. The cannon fired twice and managed to take two casualties off the Irish and both Irish commanders were captured after being knocked unconscious. The next game will be a raid to rescue these two.  All figures are by Crann Tara, cheers Pete

Elizabethan artillery for Donnybrook

the Irish  are in for a bit of a surprise at this week's Donnybrook clash when this little beauty will be unveiled against my opponents' newly painted Gallowglass. well they will if I get them varnished and based in time.  The crew figures are conversions from the Crann Tara civilian pack  and the gun is an old QT model with Games Workshop wheels.

First game of Donnybrook

Here's a few pics of our first game of Donnybrook which we kept simple with no faction or house specific rules to get a feel for the rules. First impressions were excellent and played with 4 players with 4 units and a character or two each. the reload and new turn cards  gave an air of  unpredictability and the game was much more tactical than I'd imagined it would be.  Next time we'll increase the range of the longbows and I won't charge the border horse against three units of Irish calivermen.

Crann Tara Elizabethan Light Horse

Elizabethan light horse and character figure for Donnybrook; the figures are from Crann Tara  and in my view the figure wearing the burgonet on the right of the picture holds an uncanny resemblance to Graham the owner of the Crann Tara miniatures.
I've now finished painting and varnishing eight units for donnybrook and aim to get the bases finished for a game next week. here's a link to the crann tara web pagehttp://www.cranntaraminiatures.co.uk/  cheers Pete
