Crann Tara Elizabethans for Donnybrook

Here's the first of my  Elizabethan units  for use with the Donnybrook rule system  available from here: http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/index.php Donnybrook appears to work well for Elizabeth's War in Ireland so hopefully there'll be a supplement available from the League of Augsburg soon.  My initial thoughts regarding changes to the rules are  to count calivers as carbines and give a better saving throw to heavily armoured figures being fired at at long range. I'll use the army faction for the English and have at least a third of the units as raw and use the rapparee/highlander faction for the Irish.

Ludovico Gonzaga II

It's amazing what blemishes you notice when you blow a picture up but here's Gonzaga ready, apart from a touch up here and there for basing

These two pics should answer Darrell's question from my previous post. Here's my 2nd attempt at the standard of the Gonzaga and I think it's a vast improvement on the first one., at least I've got the arrangement of the black and yellow bars right and  from what I've seen of Medieval Gonzaga heraldry I think the eagles look right . I'll have to remove the hair from the figures chin before I give it a second coat of matte varnish.  cheers Pete 

Ludovico Gonzaga

This is a WIP of my attempt to  make a 28mm representation of Ludovico Gonzaga at the Battle of Caravaggio 1448.   I'm using Massimo Predonzani's illustration in his book on the battle which can be obtained from here http://www.aciesedizioni.it/caravaggio1448-ita.htm as mu guide.

The figure is Perry plastic with a Mirliton crest and tabard made from green stuff. The horse was originally meant for Ridolfo Gonzaga at Fornovo but a quick paint job will cover the red and white. The barding was made from the Italian armour in the boxed set with all the details sliced off with a scalpel and then  filed smooth, thinned with a pair of long nose pliers and trimmed to shape. I'll finish the edging on the armour when the greenstuff has dried. 

Bande Nere flagsheet

Here's a pic of the finished Bande Nere flagsheet. I've gottta admit to having reservations about completing these flags however think they've come out canny and look the 'period'.  The flags are conjectural  as mentioned in an earlier post and I added the dice being thrown by the seated devil as I've seen this on a woodcut and it fit's with the idea of mercenaries.  cheers Pete
